Big Letters (Fonts)

 Hello,

I am using the 2.2" Color TFT with a Teensy 3.2 on the SPI connection.

I would like to have text even bigger then the avaliable fonts. How ist that possible? I have to download bigger fonts?

I am newby on this thing and I really can't understand the explanation on the manual and the example sketch. Also the posts here on the forum didn't help me.

Is possible to have a "step by step" for dummies on how to download fonts (and bitmaps!) on a arduino envolriment? That would be so great!

Thank you!

RE:Big Letters (Fonts)

Yes, you need to use user fonts which can download from u8glib project or make yourself font:

  1. u8glib fonts: https://github.com/olikraus/u8glib/wiki/fontsize
  2. Make yourself font using our online tool: http://www.digole.com/forum.php?topicID=330

RE:Big Letters (Fonts)

Thank you for the quick answer, but unfortunately didn't help me that much.

Let we say I have the FontName.ttt file and want to download to the display. How do I procede?

Please, help me on that! And keep in mind that I am a newbie in programm languages! =)

Thank you!

RE:Big Letters (Fonts)

You can't use True Type of Font's file directly, the font's format for most embedded system are special, some use bit map, we use U8glib format, because there are a lot of U8glib fonts ready for use, if you want to use your special set of graphs as font (like the walk man we showed on the instruction), you can use our online tool to convert the image to U8glib font data, and then download the data to our module, then you can use it as you want. please read our sample code, there is a sketch to use user font.

RE:Big Letters (Fonts)

Thank you, I really appreciate your answer.

But, I took a look on the Walkman and the download sketch but they are not selfexplained.

I think it would be great (not only for me) if we had a document with all steps needed like:

1. A example of a existing font with the U8glib code

2. The way to calculate the lenght in bits of the font

3. Where to put this infos on the sketch (U8glib code, lenght, place and other things...)

I am using Teensy 3.2 and 2 Digole's 2.2" TFT color display with firmware 3.2. My project will use 10 digole tft's.

I appreciate any help!

Thank you!

Cheers

RE:Big Letters (Fonts)

Sorry, we don't have such example on Teensy, use of user fonts is not too much complicated, you just need the font data which compatible with U8glib, then download it to our module.

There is an example on Arduino to show you how to save user font to display module.

What I knew is: The font's size for each letters are vary, the data length for each letters are vary too,

For the U8glib font structure, you can refer to here:  https://github.com/olikraus/u8glib/blob/e740446b8700a0d024d628c6e4b30b9c32008aeb/csrc/u8g_font.c

For the structure of U8glib font data, please search it on Google, we have no more details for that.
